Neurologist in Egypt – life cycle of a Neurologist in Egypt.
is their a difference in the life cycle of a neurologist in Egypt from the rest of the world?
Actually Neurologist life style and cycle differ markedly from one country to another.
Speaking about Egypt;
A neurologist in Egypt has to be among the best and the highest scoring students during his high school. roughly speaking his total score should be exceeding 97% at the end of the high school to be eligible to join a medical school.
During studying at the medical school, it is super hard to choose to be a neurologist not only you have to be among the best of your role, but also this topic is very foggy during the undergraduate years of study in the medical school. the whole studying period all through the years of the medical school for clinical neurology wont exceed 20 days collectively.
After finishing seven year of medical school, the expected to be candidate should pass through one year of basic general clinical training for internal medicine as a whole and if lucky he might spend few weeks at a neurology rotation.
After finishing this year according to the student cumulative performance during the medical school, if he was among the top of his role he can be a faculty staff resident of neurology, if his cumulative performance is not that good the physician is shifted outside the university career to be employed by the ministry of health at one of it hospitals.
After spending from three to five years of residency program where at some places it might be split between neurology, psychiatry and general medicine as well, the neurologist during this period in Egypt suppose to be finishing his masters’ degree.
The neurologist master degree is divided into two parts the first part which is more academic and less clinical with an afterward exam and the second part which include a dissertation and more clinical basis followed by an exam as well.
At that stage the physician is named to be a neurology specialist. at that stage the neurologist is expected to start his more intensive and initial legal steps of the private practice yet being partially supervised by a consultant. The neurology specialist can now start his own private clinic or to take some 24 hour paid neurology shifts at some medical facilities. the average income for the neurologist at that stage would be around $200 to $400/month.
After five to seven years of working and studying and if the neurology specialist was lucky enough he can participate and finish his/her next medical degree of neurology which would be his medical doctoral degree and now the neurologist would be named a neurology consultant.
The neurology doctoral degree is a hard to gain certificate. It is obtained after passing two exams as well and a dissertation. For obtaining this degree the candidate is expected to pay a studying fees of around $500 and is expected to isolate him/her self from any tasks or duties the three to four months before the exams to get prepared by studying at list seven to twelve hours a day.
Some stop overs that some neurologists might be stuck at during their career life in Egypt as;
before being eligible to do the masters degree if you are not a university resident you should pass by an extra few years of training. also for males only you might be obliged to do some military services that might range from one to three years.
